# Rangers: Alex Lowry injury footage leaves journalist shocked

**[Glasgow Rangers](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-news/) starlet Alex Lowry has undergone scans on his knee after a horrendous tackle during a Rangers B game on Tuesday night.**

### The Lowdown: Gers win in style

The B team cruised to an emphatic victory against Dumbarton in the SPFL Trust Trophy, winning [7-0](https://www.rangers.co.uk/Article/report-rangers-b-7-0-dumbarton/3tryVACXWI8O8006EknQVv) in the end.

This included a hat-trick from Lowry, who the opposition players struggled to contain throughout the match.

### The Latest: Challenge on Lowry

Footage of a shocking challenge on Lowry from a Dumbarton player during the encounter circulated on social media, which left [McFarlane](https://twitter.com/jonnyrmcfarlane/status/1562193663551102976) fuming:

*“This challenge on Alex Lowry tonight is horrific. Disgracefully only a yellow card was given. When will we learn about protecting our technical players? A national embarrassment.”*

### The Verdict: Fingers crossed

The challenge occurred late on in the game, with the score already at 7-0, but was so bad that it forced Lowry to be [stretchered](https://twitter.com/RFC_Youth/status/1562175557307170816) off of the pitch.

It was simply unnecessary, and could end up sidelining Lowry for a chunk of the season – he has had a [scan on his knee](https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/sport/20739220.alex-lowry-rangers-injury-latest-details-emerge-following-horror-tackle/) but there are no further details as of yet.

It would be a big shame for the 19-year-old, who already has five goals and one assist at youth level this term, and has made seven appearances for the senior team, netting twice and making two assists ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-lowry/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/633753)).

Nonetheless, Lowry and the Gers will be hoping that the injury is not as serious as first feared, and that the Scotsman can have a swift recovery after what was truly an unforgivable challenge on him.
