# Rangers: Ianis Hagi’s return will be a ‘big, big boost’

**Glasgow [Rangers](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-news/) attacker Ianis Hagi’s return from injury will act as a ‘big, big boost’ for the Ibrox club, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.**

### The Lowdown: Hagi missing for Rangers

The 24-year-old has been ravaged by injury so far this season, [only appearing once](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/281272/Show/Ianis-Hagi) in the [Premiership](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/scottish-premiership-news/) in an appearance which totalled 18 minutes.

In fact, Hagi [hasn’t featured](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ianis-hagi/leistungsdaten/spieler/282076) for the Gers since a brief runout against St Johnstone at the end of January, with surgery required on his knee problem and [just over a year](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ianis-hagi/verletzungen/spieler/282076) of action now missed.

Thankfully, it now looks as though the Romanian’s return to the fold is edging closer all the time, in what will be a heartwarming moment for him and the club.

### The Latest: ‘Big, big boost’ for Rangers

Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/rangers-now-set-for-big-injury-boost-over-3m-star-at-ibrox/), O’Rourke talked up the importance of Hagi’s return to Rangers once he regains full fitness following his lengthy convalescence.

The journalist said:

> “It will be a big, big boost to get him back. He’s been sorely missed for Rangers in the last year after that long-term knee injury he suffered just over a year ago.
>
> “He was a key player in that side for Steven Gerrard when he was on form and playing well for Rangers, scoring goals and providing assists. They’ve missed his presence in that side.”

### The Verdict: Massive boost for Beale

Hagi was a hugely valuable player for Rangers before his injury setback, [scoring 15 goals and registering 21 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ianis-hagi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/282076/verein/124) in 86 appearances, so the enormity of his return can’t be overstated.

The [£21,000-per-week](https://salarysport.com/football/player/ianis-hagi/) attacking midfielder will add a spark to Michael Beale’s squad, although it is imperative that he isn’t rushed back too quickly after a year out of action, instead being eased in so that he gets back up to speed gently.

Gary McAllister has previously [hailed](https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/rangers/rangers-star-singled-out-for-praise-as-gary-mcallister-makes-admission-over-livingston-performance-3393132) the ‘quality and guile’ that Hagi brings to the Gers, and the 24-year-old might just make a telling impact as Beale’s side look to narrow the gap to Celtic at the top of the Premiership table.
