# Leeds: Dean Jones reacts to Raphael Guerreiro rumours

**[Transfer insider](https://twitter.com/DeanJonesSoccer?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor) Dean Jones has been reacting to [Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/)’s reported interest in Borussia Dortmund left-back Raphael Guerreiro.**

### The Lowdown: Leeds linked with Guerreiro

[Reports](https://www.teamtalk.com/leeds-united/transfer-news-exclusive-january-approach-stylish-borussia-dortmund-star-victor-orta-fix-long-term-issue) earlier this month suggested that the Whites are preparing a contract offer for the 28-year-old, who is set to enter the final six months of his [deal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raphael-guerreiro/profil/spieler/170986) with the Bundesliga giants in 2023.

Guerreiro is [currently preparing](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/portugal-world-cup-2022-squad-players-line-up-qatar) for the [World Cup](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/world-cup-2022/) with Portugal and appears to be Leeds’ main transfer target as they look to bolster their left-back ranks in the New Year.

### The Latest: Jones’ comments

Jones was speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88084604-leeds-united-transfer-news-raphael-guerreiro-elland-road-move) regarding Leeds and Guerreiro. He questioned whether the player would be keen on a move to Yorkshire and said that a transfer could be ‘difficult’ to complete.

The journalist stated: *“Given the position that they’re in right now, you wonder if Guerreiro will be up for it.*

*“They’re trying to get someone to go into a team that looks like they might be in a relegation scrap, coming from a big club is always difficult. So, I think right now it seems like a difficult one to convince him of in January.”*

### The Verdict: Spot-on

Labelled an [“amazing player”](https://twitter.com/archiert1/status/1394214402224758789?lang=en) by Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic, Guerreiro is used to playing in the [Champions League](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raphael-guerreiro/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/170986) and has been a regular for them this season, making [18](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raphael-guerreiro/leistungsdaten/spieler/170986) appearances in all competitions.

Therefore, it does seem to be a highly ambitious move by the Whites, who have used centre-back Pascal Struijk [at left-back](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pascal-struijk/leistungsdaten/spieler/410708) for the majority of the campaign.

A new left-sided defender would be of use at Elland Road in order to allow Struijk to reprise his [favoured](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pascal-struijk/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/410708) central role, but it could still be a surprise if Guerreiro comes to Yorkshire.
