# Manchester United: Red Devils ‘still monitoring’ Dani Olmo

**[Transfer expert Christian Falk](https://twitter.com/cfbayern) says that [Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/) are ‘still monitoring’ RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo ahead of a potential move in this window.**

### The Lowdown: United ‘offer’

It was [reported](https://www.football365.com/news/man-utd-make-offer-olmo-leipzig-last-minute-surprise-bayern) earlier this month that United had made an ‘offer’ for Olmo, along with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan were also credited with interest, and his current contract at Leipzig expires in [2024](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dani-olmo/profil/spieler/293385).

### The Latest: United ‘still monitoring’ Olmo

Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88105477-man-utd-now-watching-40m-spain-star-at-old-trafford), Falk says that United are ‘still monitoring’ Olmo ahead of a possible move before the end of this month, with Leipzig getting ‘nervous’ about his contract situation:

*“Yeah, Manchester United are still watching him, of course.*

*“Leipzig are hopeful to get Olmo on a new contract. He didn’t sign now, so they’re getting a little bit nervous because he could want to change leagues.”*

### The Verdict: More firepower

With the addition of striker Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley, the Red Devils could still do with adding some more firepower in attacking areas.

Despite sitting in third place in the Premier League table, they are the [second-lowest](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) goal scorers in the top half, and have a vastly inferior goal difference to the rest of the teams in the top four.

Hailed as a ‘very good finisher’ and a ‘natural-born goalscorer’ by former La Masia coach [Denis Silva Puig](https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/news/who-is-dani-olmo-rb-leipzig-former-barcelona-wonderkid-dinamo-zagreb-9513), Olmo boasts [58](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dani-olmo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/293385) senior career goals for club and country combined by the age of 24, mainly operating from midfield.

The Spain international has also been lauded for his technical ability, with his former coach Julian Nagelsmann dubbing him an [‘outstanding footballer](https://bulinews.com/news/5257/julian-nagelsmann-praises-dani-olmo-outstanding-footballer)‘, while Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig says that he ‘[can produce magic](https://twitter.com/FTalentScout/status/1418132970775396352)‘ in moments.

Nonetheless, Olmo maybe exactly what Erik ten Hag’s side need in order for them to cement a UEFA for Champions League place for next season, and potentially even push for the Premier League title.
