Glasgow Rangers’ Nikola Katic has teased fans with his latest Instagram post.
Katic on the mend
The 6 foot 4 beast was an important part of Steven Gerrard’s squad last season, making 29 appearances in all competitions. However, disaster struck at the start of this term, with him rupturing his cruciate ligament in training. Therefore, he has not played a minute of football since.
However, the 23-year-old has provided a positive update on Instagram. He shared a photo of himself, looking markedly bulkier, with the caption “Loading” – suggesting he is on the mend. The supporters were clearly impressed with his new body shape, and some believe he could be back sooner rather than later.
Goldson, Balogun and Helander to beat
Steven Gerrard will no doubt be delighted that the Croatian looks in such good shape. Whilst this does not necessarily mean his return is imminent, it suggests he may be back sooner than his January target.
The big question, though, is whether he would even get back in to the side at the moment. Rangers have had a fantastic start to the new campaign, and that has been built on their defensive sturdiness – they have conceded just three goals in nine Premiership games, and four in 12 in all competitions.
Would Katic get back into the team at the moment?
Connor Goldson has been an ever-present, whilst Filip Helander and new signing Leon Balogun have been reliable partners. Katic’s eventual return will give Gerrard another option, but the defender has his work cut out getting back into the starting XI.
