Speaking recently to Sky Sports, Glasgow Rangers legend Kris Boyd urged Gers players to listen to the calls of Ibrox shot-stopper Allan McGregor.
After conceding a last-minute equaliser against Hamilton last Saturday, Gers goalkeeper McGregor was visibly furious with his teammates, making it crystal clear what he made of his side’s performance in the fixture.
And during an interview with Sky Sports (via Glasgow Live), former Rangers star Boyd stated his belief that McGregor’s fury personified the mentality required to go on and secure what would be a famous Scottish Premiership title win.
He said: “That’s what Allan is, he’s a winner. He wants to win games of football. He’s a perfectionist. A lot of goalkeepers would have been happy making saves, Allan is not. That’s one thing about him, he’s fully concentrated on what he needs to do and he’s used to only making one or two saves a game. That wasn’t the case [against Hamilton]. He got Rangers a point because they were really really poor.
“For Allan, he’s a winner and when you look at the big picture, he just wants to win the league. That’s it. No matter what other way we look at it, he wants to win the league. That’s the way he goes about his business. He doesn’t really speak that often in the dressing but when he does, people should sit up and notice what he’s saying.”

Transfer Tavern Take
With Rangers currently leading the Premiership by a whopping 21 points, it would appear as if Steven Gerrard’s side have the title wrapped up and it looks like a matter of time until they are crowned as champions.
However, as Boyd states, McGregor’s anger with his side’s draw against Hamilton demonstrated exactly how much a title win would mean to the 39-year-old and if other Rangers players took something from his words as Boyd urges, it would only have a positive effect on the side over what remains of their campaign.
With McGregor and Steven Davis being the only two players currently at Rangers who have experience of winning a Scottish title, it is not difficult to see why Boyd believes the goalkeeper’s teammates should sit up and take notice of the 39-year-old’s mentality.
