# Real Madrid eye £64m Man United star as Ronaldo replacement

[![Depay 3](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Depay-3-500x294.jpg)](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Depay-3.jpg?admin)Manchester United fans have been left speechless by staggering reports from the continent today, which suggest Real Madrid will swoop for one of their newest stars.

[Spanish outlet *Don Balon* claim Real Madrid are eying United’s Memphis Depay](https://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=1&hl=en&ie=UTF8&prev=_t&rurl=translate.googleusercontent.com&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http://www.donbalon.com/noticia/detalle/16347/el-real-madrid-puede-iniciar-una-nueva-guerra-con-el-manchester-united&usg=ALkJrhhs_unKYBZeieOn4IdqAwUgKhBr4w), with the La Liga leaders considering the 21-year-old Dutchman to be the ideal replacement for an ageing Cristiano Ronaldo.

Despite a slow start to his Premier League career, after a £25m arrival from PSV Eindhoven in the summer, Real president Florentino Perez is a big-fan of the Dutch winger and sees him as the perfect fit to his Galacticos philosophy.

However, with [United demanding at least £64m for the player’s signature](https://metro.co.uk/2015/11/02/real-madrid-eye-transfer-of-manchester-united-winger-memphis-depay-to-replace-cristiano-ronaldo-report-5475371/), Real Madrid face a stern test to secure his services; and may target another player instead, with Eden Hazard being regularly linked to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Our United regulars at the bar have stated they’d take £64m for Depay in the blink of an eye, not entirely impressed with his performances so far and unconvinced he will ever be worth that high a price.
