# Real Madrid: Gareth Bale back training with the group ahead of Celta Vigo clash

**Gareth Bale has returned to training with Real Madrid ahead of the club’s La Liga opener against Celta Vigo on Saturday, [via the club’s official website](https://www.realmadrid.com/en/news/2019/08/real-madrid-continue-preparations-for-the-laliga-opener?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=organico).**

Bale’s future in Madrid looked all but over just weeks ago, with manager Zinedine Zidane [openly saying that the Wales international could leave the club](https://www.theguardian.com/football/video/2019/jul/21/its-not-personal-zinedine-zidane-on-gareth-bales-imminent-real-madrid-exit-video).

However, despite interest from [Manchester United](https://talksport.com/football/570629/manchester-united-real-madrid-swap-deal-paul-pogba-gareth-bale/) and [China](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49134836), the 30-year-old remained at the Bernabeu and will now look to force his way back into the side, at least until the [Chinese transfer market](https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/real-madrid/transfer-talk/news/bale-waiting-for-chinese-transfer-window-to-open_367972.html) re-opens in November.

The ex-Tottenham man has now returned to training with Los Blancos ahead of their curtain-raiser against Celta Vigo this weekend, and with the recent news of [Eden Hazard being ruled out of the clash due to a thigh injury](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/eden-hazard-injury-set-hand-18947205), could make a shock return to Zidane’s starting line-up.

Should Bale start, he has the perfect opportunity to prove why he should be in the starting-eleven this term.

The forward has been sporadically used throughout pre-season by Zidane – mainly due to transfer speculation – but if he can work hard over the coming months, especially with [Hazard sidelined for up to four weeks](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/eden-hazard-injury-set-hand-18947205), perhaps he can force his way into first-team proceedings. Indeed, he was the club’s second top scorer in the league last season so does remain a palpable goal threat, despite the issues he’s had with Zidane.
