# Real Madrid: Many fans have slated Raphael Varane after loss against Paris Saint-Germain

**Many Real Madrid supporters have been outraged by their club’s 3-0 loss against Paris Saint-Germain in the first Champions League game of the season.**

There have been many criticisms to be had for the side, with Raphael Varane being among those to be targeted after the team came back from Paris pointless:

The Frenchman was given a rating of 5.6 by [**WhoScored**](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1426900/Live/Europe-UEFA-Champions-League-2019-2020-Paris-Saint-Germain-Real-Madrid), the lowest of any player who took part in the match, whether starting or coming off the bench.

The 26-year-old didn’t make a single tackle, interception or aerial duel during the match, while he made [**3 clearances**](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1426900/Live/Europe-UEFA-Champions-League-2019-2020-Paris-Saint-Germain-Real-Madrid).

He did complete [**93% of his attempted passes**](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1426900/Live/Europe-UEFA-Champions-League-2019-2020-Paris-Saint-Germain-Real-Madrid), but that won’t be much of a consolation for the fans who saw him as part of a defence that let three goals in.

Judging by the comments, the general consensus is that Varane needs to leave the club.

A selection of Twitter reaction to the performance, including tweets from outraged Real Madrid fans, can be seen below:

> Some of the players in this picture do not deserve to be in [@realmadrid](https://twitter.com/realmadrid?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)! Varane is still on the World Cup, Carvajal does not comply simple tactical instructions, Courtois is far from his best and more and more and more. > I don’t get how Zidane is at fault here, when the players are performing badly, who is it his fault when his trying his best with this underperforming players like Kross, Casemiro, Carvajal and Varane and there no chemistry with new players as they need playing time 1/2

> Leave Courtois and Varane in Paris. Actually glad Navas got picked up by PSG, he deserves it. Wished Modric went too.
