# Real Madrid plan to hijack deal for top Man United target

![Biglia](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Biglia-500x333.jpg)Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are making their frustrations very clear as they whack a few quid on the slot machines, after being told a top European club wants to beat them to a prime-target.

[*TalkSport* state that Rafael Benitez’s Real Madrid are looking to complete a swoop for Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia](https://talksport.com/football/real-madrid-could-hijack-manchester-uniteds-move-lucas-biglia-151116174490), as they eye a replacement for the ageing Luka Modric in the heart of their midfield.

The news will be a major blow to Manchester United and Louis Van Gaal, with [the Red Devils targeting the Argentine international last summer and revisiting their interest back in January.](https://talksport.com/football/real-madrid-could-hijack-manchester-uniteds-move-lucas-biglia-151116174490)

United look set to be trumped in the market though as Real Madrid have already made contact, [stating they’re prepared to double the player’s salary](https://talksport.com/football/real-madrid-could-hijack-manchester-uniteds-move-lucas-biglia-151116174490), and Lazio will find themselves defenceless to fight off any interest.

Lazio do not want to sell but accept they have no choice and [the report finishes by stating the Serie A side are already scouring the market for potential replacements](https://talksport.com/football/real-madrid-could-hijack-manchester-uniteds-move-lucas-biglia-151116174490), which suggest this transfer may be completed imminently.
