# Tottenham Hotspur: Real Madrid waiting for Spurs offer to sign Gareth Bale

**According to a report in Tuesday’s print edition of Mundo Deportivo, via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/club-hope-to-receive-offer-from-tottenham-set-conditions-to-sanction-players-sale/), La Liga giants Real Madrid are hoping that Tottenham will approach them over wantaway winger Gareth Bale and are even prepared to lower his asking price to just [£22.7m](https://sportwitness.co.uk/club-hope-to-receive-offer-from-tottenham-set-conditions-to-sanction-players-sale/).**

Bale, who has been [heavily linked with a return to north London](https://sportwitness.co.uk/club-hope-to-receive-offer-from-tottenham-set-conditions-to-sanction-players-sale/) following the unrest between him and Real Madrid, could now leave for a reduced fee as Daniel Levy and co search for available wingers ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Indeed, as per Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are eager to hear any offers from Tottenham whilst being hopeful that they can begin talks – and if this report is anything go by, Bale’s reduced £22.7m asking price may well be music to Levy’s ears.

However, one major stumbling block in negotiations could be the Welshman’s wage demands, with Bale taking home a head-turning [£350,000-a-week after tax](https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/how-much-gareth-bale-earn-18620348).

These figures would make him the highest paid player in the Spurs squad, above both Harry Kane and Tanguy Ndombele, who take home £200,000-a-week each ([sillyseason](https://sillyseason.com/salary/tottenham-hotspur-players-salaries-69471/)).

Given Bale’s pedigree as a [four-time Champions League winner](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gareth-bale/erfolge/spieler/39381) and the profile of such a marquee signing, you could argue that his lofty salary would be worth it, especially considering that he has racked up [105 goals and 68 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gareth-bale/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/39381) for Real Madrid since signing for them in 2013.

As well as being a [Spurs favourite](https://tothelaneandback.com/2020/09/03/bring-him-home-tottenham-fans-react-as-gareth-bale-opens-door-for-pl-return/) for his breakthrough performances in the Premier League, Bale has consistently performed for his country on the international stage, racking up [33 goals in 83 caps for Wales](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gareth-bale/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/39381).

The 6 ft 1 superstar, described as a ‘[diamond](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/362631/Gareth-Bale-is-a-diamond-not-a-diver-says-Tottenham-legend-David-Ginola)‘ by fellow Tottenham cult hero David Ginola, could now be closer to a move away from Madrid  given this latest update, with the Galacticos seemingly more eager than ever to offload him.
