# Manchester United: Eric Bailly performance vs Chelsea attracts mighty praise from supporters

**After Manchester United edged out a solid [2-0 win](https://www.sofascore.com/chelsea-manchester-united/mcYb) away to Chelsea on Monday evening, one unlikely man, in particular, received a lot of praise for his defensive display at Stamford Bridge – with centre-back Eric Bailly taking due plaudits following his first Premier League appearance of the season.**

Bailly, who recently returned to action for the Red Devils after undergoing [knee surgery](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/eric-bailly-ruled-out-for-a-four-to-five-months-with-knee-injury), having been out since last summer, put on a ‘[masterclass](https://twitter.com/__rashford__10/status/1229525893132931072?s=21)‘ at the back as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men managed to shut out Chelsea – with two goals from the home side being ruled out through VAR. Strikes from Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire sealed a crucial three points in United’s chase for a Champions League spot, and the Ivorian defender was definitely a huge part of that. According to [SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/chelsea-manchester-united/mcYb), only Maguire (8.5) garnered a higher rating than Bailly during the contest (7.3) – with the 25-year-old also winning 5/5 aerial duels.

As a result, many supporters have been praising him for his efforts on an eagerly anticipated return – voting Bailly as their Man of the Match. Find all of their votes for the Ivory Coast international down below.
