**Liverpool’s centre-back pairing of [Virgil van Dijk](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/virgil-van-dijk/leistungsdaten/spieler/139208) and [Joe Gomez](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/leistungsdaten/spieler/256178) had been in terrific form before the current campaign was suspended due to the pandemic.**

The Reds had keep nine clean sheets in their last 12 Premier League games before it was deemed no longer safe to continue England’s top flight. Not only that, they have the best defence in the division this term, having conceded just [21](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table) goals.

Leicester City have the third-best record, and Turkey international Caglar Soyuncu has played a big role in their success this term. According to his former agent Mustafa Dogru, he believes that Liverpool are the only side who could afford to make a move for the [£28.8m-valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/caglar-soyuncu/marktwertverlauf/spieler/320141) ex-Freiburg defender, as per Transfermarkt (AS via [Sportsmole](https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/liverpool/transfer-talk/news/liverpool-to-beat-man-city-to-caglar-soyuncu_399741.html)).
