# Liverpool: Reds agree personal terms with Werner

**[According to Ian McGarry of the Transfer Window Podcast](https://play.acast.com/s/thetransferwindow/vnid%3A%2F%2Fepisodes%2F29021006%3Fmedia_id%3D29127570), Liverpool have agreed a £140,000-a-week contract with Timo Werner.**

The Reds have been continually linked with a move for the RB Leipzig forward over the past few weeks and months, and it has been said that [Chelsea and Manchester United](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11999509/pl-trio-have-12-days-to-trigger-werner-release-clause) have now entered the race for his signature.

Now, though, McGarry says that the Reds have agreed personal terms with the 24-year-old. He says that the deal will be worth around £140,000 a week, with the length of the contract said to be five years.

Whilst there have been plenty of rumours and speculation surrounding the Germany international – this is one of the worst-kept secrets in football – we have never had such specific details in regards to a potential agreement for the forward.

£140,000 a week would be a considerable amount of money and would put Werner very close to the top of the overall highest earners at Anfield. As it stands, only [three](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/liverpool-f.c/payroll/) players earn more than that, and they are Roberto Firmino, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.

Still, given he has scored [31](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/timo-werner/leistungsdaten/spieler/170527) goals already in all competitions this term and is one of the most exciting strikers on the planet, £36.4m over five years could well end up being a bargain. It remains to be seen whether Michael Edwards and co can get a deal over the line.
