# Everton: Toffees willing to make Renan Lodi offer

**[Everton](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/) are reportedly willing to make an offer for Atletico Madrid left-back Renan Lodi this summer, who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest.**

### The Lowdown: Adapted well

Lodi has adapted fairly well to playing in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) so far this season, as Steve Cooper has started him Forest’s last [ten](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/renan-lodi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/476352/plus/0?saison=&verein=703&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) games in the division.

He ranks highly among his team-mates for average tackles, interceptions and crosses per match ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/174/Show/England-Nottingham-Forest)), and has been a key player in keeping Forest outside of the [relegation zone](https://www.premierleague.com/tables).

### The Latest: Everton interest

As per [Spanish sources](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/club-premier-league-quiere-hacerse-servicios-renan-lodi-20230226.html), the Toffees are ‘interested’ in signing Lodi this summer, when he returns to Atletico after his loan spell.

Forest will reportedly not activate the €30m (£26.4m) option to buy that they have, paving the way for the Goodison Park outfit to make a potential move.

Atletico would be ‘open’ to negotiate selling him for less, and the Merseyside club would be ‘willing to make a competitive offer’ for him.

### The Verdict: Get it done

With Ruben Vinagre set to return to Sporting after his loan spell, [Sean Dyche](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/sean-dyche/) will only have Vitaliy Mykolenko to call upon in terms of senior left-back options in his [squad](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-everton/startseite/verein/29).

Thus, signing another left-back to compete with the Ukrainian is imperative this summer, and Lodi would provide that.

The Brazilian would have a season of Premier League experience under his belt, while he has also played for a top European club in Atletico, with whom he helped win the [La Liga title](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/renan-lodi/erfolge/spieler/476352) in the 2020/21 season.

Hailed as ‘[hard-working](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10555221/Atletico-Madrid-2-0-Celta-Vigo-Renan-Lodi-scores-twice-Diego-Simeones-secure-victory.html)‘ by Atletico boss Diego Simeone, Lodi has the right attitude to play under Dyche, and at 24 years of age, he is only going to get better.
