# Revealed: The cost of Man United’s Rooney conundrum

**After his late cameo for England on Monday night, it’s a return to club duty for Wayne Rooney as the Manchester United in the Transfer Tavern prepare for their crunch clash with Liverpool on Monday night.**

Things don’t get any easier for the 30-year-old, who has been dropped by Jose Mourinho as a result of his poor form for the Red Devils.

Now, according to the [Daily Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-united-facing-26m-wayne-9033100) , the 30-year-old could be set for a permanent move away from United’s first-team.

They [suggest](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-united-facing-26m-wayne-9033100) the club ARE prepared to sell their skipper in the summer, though may have to pay off his gargantuan contract at Old Trafford.

[Believed](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-united-facing-26m-wayne-9033100) to be raking in a cool £300k-per-week at the Theatre of Dreams, the club he joined as a teenager 12 years ago are [thought](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-united-facing-26m-wayne-9033100) to be ready to sell him at last.

In doing so, however, they must [reportedly](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-united-facing-26m-wayne-9033100) pay his excessive wages in an arrangement that could cost well up to [£26m](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-united-facing-26m-wayne-9033100).

American and Chinese clubs are [said](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-united-facing-26m-wayne-9033100) to be keen on the former Everton prodigy should he be made available, with Rooney remaining one of the biggest names in world football.
