**Aston Villa have made an approach for Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur.**

That’s according to [Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett](https://twitter.com/RobDorsettSky/status/1484928438528090118), and a number of Villa fans have been reacting to the news on social media.

Villa have already brought in [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aston-villa/transfers/verein/405/plus/?saison_id=2021&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=w) senior players this month in Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Digne and Robin Olsen, along with [one](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aston-villa-u23/transfers/verein/12124/plus/?saison_id=2021&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=w) for the academy in Kerr Smith, but it seems as if they are not done yet.

Steven Gerrard and Johan Lange now want a [holding midfielder and a centre-back](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10430347/Aston-Villa-begin-talks-Juventus-three-time-Serie-winner-Rodrigo-Bentancur.html) before the end of the month, and it seems as if Bentancur is their next target.

The 24-year-old has made [180](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rodrigo-bentancur/leistungsdaten/spieler/354362) appearances for Juventus and is [primarily](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rodrigo-bentancur/profil/spieler/354362) a central midfielder who can also play in a [defensive](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rodrigo-bentancur/profil/spieler/354362) role. He has been a [regular](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rodrigo-bentancur/leistungsdaten/spieler/354362) during 2021/22, and according to [Dorsett](https://twitter.com/RobDorsettSky/status/1484928438528090118), negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs, with the Uruguay international valued at around £16m.
