# Liverpool: Willy Sagnol says Kylian Mbappe could become a “king” at Anfield

**Former Bayern Munich full-back Willy Sagnol has said that Jurgen Klopp would make Kylian Mbappe a “king” at Liverpool.**

The Reds have been [linked with the PSG star](https://le10sport.com/football/mercato/mercato-psg-liverpool-real-madrid-mbappe-a-fait-un-choix-fort-502579) over the past few months, with it even being said previously that signing him is the Anfield outfit’s [“ultimate ambition”](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/11/26/manchester-united-believe-leading-race-sign-jadon-sancho/). The 21-year-old is one of the most exciting players on the planet, having already managed [90](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kylian-mbappe/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/342229) goals in 120 games for his current club, including 30 this campaign alone.

Speaking to German outlet SportBild ([via Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/liverpool-big-advantage-signing-race-klopp-make-player-king-anfield/)), [six-time league champion](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/willy-sagnol/erfolge/spieler/213) Sagnol said:

> *“This club has a big advantage: With Klopp you have a coach with whom every player in the world would like to work. Mbappe would have to adjust under him: he demands a lot of defensive work from his strikers, which Mbappe is not yet good at. But he can learn that, especially from a guy like Klopp. No question: Mbappe could become a king with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.”*

Mbappe signing for Liverpool would be a transfer that would truly shake the footballing world. For a start, he would likely set them back an absolute fortune – he is currently valued at [£162m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kylian-mbappe/marktwertverlauf/spieler/342229) by Transfermarkt and it is not hard to imagine the Ligue 1 champions demanding more than that.

Adding Mbappe to an attack that already includes Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino ([49 goals between them](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/leistungsdaten/verein/31) this season) could well be breathtaking. In the [current financially-restricted climate](https://www.ft.com/content/067a3eeb-e915-48af-8384-94fdc495cf59), though, it’s hard to envisage him making the switch to the European champions any time soon.
