# Southampton: Mohamed Elyounoussi tipped for sale

**Darren Bent has [told](https://www.footballinsider247.com/bent-exclusive-celtic-tipped-to-complete-deal-quite-easily-after-fee-reveal/) Football Insider that he expects Southampton to sell Mohamed Elyounoussi permanently in January.**

### **Elyounoussi on the move**

Elyounoussi has been in fantastic form so far this campaign on loan at Celtic, scoring [10](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-elyounoussi/leistungsdaten/spieler/186644) goals in 18 matches in all competitions.

It has been reported that the Saints want between [£8m and £10m](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-big-update-on-celtic-bid-to-sign-elyounoussi-permanently/) for the former Basel man, and Bent believes that will facilitate an easy transfer. He said:

> *“It could be a deal that gets done quite easily. To sell him, that might be the best thing to do.*
>
> *“Southampton are absolutely flying at the minute, I really like the stuff that they’re doing down there at Southampton and I have done for a number of years now.*
>
> *“They’ve always impressed my the way they do business Southampton.*
>
> *“They go about with a bit of class. They always seem to produce all these very good players and sell them a lot of money.*
>
> *“It wouldn’t surprise me if they sell him for a profit and make a little bit of money.*
>
> *“The way Southampton are going at the minute, I’d probably look to sell.”*

### **Actually a loss**

On the one hand, it does make sense for Southampton to sell the Norway international. The Saints are flying in the Premier League at the moment as they sit in fourth place, indicating that they do not miss the 26-year-old, and it is looking harder and harder to see how he slots back into the team.

On the other hand, though, Elyounoussi made the move to St. Mary’s Stadium for [£16m](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/44658749) in 2018 – this latest reported fee would see them make a loss of 37.5% on a player who has actually impressed whilst on their books, albeit at another club. Ralph Hasenhuttl and co should arguably look for a better deal.
