# Leeds United: Samuel Iling Junior rejects Whites’ interest

**Juventus forward Samuel Iling Junior has rejected interest from [Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) in favour of extending his stay in Turin, according to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-samuel-iling-junior-rejects-aston-villa-and-leeds-united-as-deal-agreed/).**

### The Lowdown: Iling Junior profiled

Sponsored by [Puma](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/samuel-iling-junior/profil/spieler/581672), the 19-year-old is [primarily](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/samuel-iling-junior/profil/spieler/581672) a left-winger and moved to Italy from Chelsea in [2020](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/samuel-iling-junior/transfers/spieler/581672).

The teenager has gone on to contribute to [29](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/samuel-iling-junior/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/581672) goals in [58](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/samuel-iling-junior/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/581672) for Juventus’ youth side but is [out of contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/samuel-iling-junior/profil/spieler/581672) at the end of the campaign.

That appears to have led to interest from Elland Road, with an update in which Whites were named emerging in the last 48 hours.

### The Latest: New Juventus contract

[Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-samuel-iling-junior-rejects-aston-villa-and-leeds-united-as-deal-agreed/) revealed on Saturday morning that Leeds and their [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) rivals Aston Villa had both made enquiries for Iling Junior.

However, their report adds that he has rejected interest over a possible return to England and has instead agreed a new long-term contract with Juventus.

### The Verdict: Senior addition needed

[Phil Hay](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/leeds-phil-hay-shares-january-transfer-plans/) believes that Leeds are on the lookout for a new forward in the New Year, along with a young left-back.

It will be an important deal for Victor Orta to execute, with Patrick Bamford struggling for [fitness](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/verletzungen/spieler/183334) and [form](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/183334) over the last 18 months.

Therefore, Leeds need a proven goalscorer to bolster [Jesse Marsch](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/jesse-marsch/)’s squad over the coming weeks, and not necessarily someone like Iling Junior who has only played [three times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/samuel-iling-junior/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/581672) at first-team level, although the Whites’ interest could always be revisited further down the line.
