# Liverpool: Fans slam Scholes’ comparison of Paul Pogba and Steven Gerrard

**Steven Gerrard is one of the greatest players ever to pull on the Liverpool shirt.**

Across almost 20 years at Anfield, the England international was at the heart of everything the Reds did. All in all, he would end up with [710](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/steven-gerrard/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/3109) appearances in all competitions for the Merseyside outfit, whilst he also captained the side for several years – he led them to a Champions League victory in 2005 as Liverpool came from 3-0 down in the final against AC Milan.

Paul Pogba does have a World Cup to his name, but he is often [lambasted](https://talksport.com/football/559184/manchester-united-slam-paul-pogba-exit/) by a number of his own fans – and pundits as well. That is why it is so surprising to see United legend Paul Scholes compare the Frenchman to Gerrard. He [told the UTD Podcast](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/preview-of-utd-podcast-with-marcus-rashford-and-paul-scholes) that he can do everything and that he is a bit like now Rangers manager.

This, as you can imagine, has not gone down well with the Reds supporters. They have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts, and you can see some of the best responses from the social media platform below.
