Currently sat in 3rd-placed position in the Scottish Premiership, the Aberdeen fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing their chances of making it into second spot and securing European football for next term.
While bitter rivals Rangers are currently above them in the league, the Dons have a game in hand and many of our locals are optimistic about holding off those pesky Gers. Which is why they don’t quite know what to make of reports in the Daily Mail.
According to their report, those at Pittodrie have slapped a £1m asking price on winger Jonny Hayes amid interest from Neil Warnock’s Cardiff City. The 30-year-old is understood to have been the subject of three bids, ranging from £500k-£750k, though manager Derek McInnes is believed to be keen on keeping the 30-year-old until the summer.
While a fee of around £1m would be good business for the Republic of Ireland international, our Dons in the bar are fearful of losing a key player as they look to challenge in the Scottish Cup this term.
