Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern are on their way to Hampden Park for the 2018 Scottish Cup final against Motherwell.
The Hoops are looking to complete a domestic double after wrapping up their seventh consecutive Scottish Premiership title earlier in the season. Brendan Rodgers’ side lost just four games all season as they cruised to another SPL trophy. Celtic will also make it two Scottish Cup trophies in a row if they defeat the Steelmen.
Despite their domestic success, the Hoops struggled in Europe, being knocked out of both the Champions League and Europa League. To be competitive on the European stage, they need a marquee signing now the transfer window has officially reopened.
Rodgers should make an audacious attempt to lure West Ham striker Javier Hernandez to Scotland. The former Manchester United striker joined the Hammers from Bayer Leverkusen last summer and scored eight Premier League goals during a dismal season. Valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt, he could be set to leave after just one season according to ESPN.
‘Chicarito’ remains one of the best finishers in the league and has not been helped by being stuck in a relegation battle all season. In the Bundesliga, he was lethal – hitting double figures for goals in both seasons with Leverkusen. Under Rodgers in the SPL, Hernandez could easily net 30 goals.
If the former Liverpool boss could convince the Mexican to make the move up north, Celtic would be unstoppable.
