Rangers head into their final Europa League group stage game against Rapid Wien knowing victory will be enough to take them into the knockout round of the competition.
Kilmarnock’s Austrian goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann, however, is backing his compatriots at Rapid Wien to overcome the challenge of the Scottish giants, pinpointing striker Alfredo Morelos as a possible weakness that the team can exploit.
“If he is missing, they win little,” Bachmann started to explain in an interview with APA (via Inside Futbol). “He is very prone to provocation. Of course Rapid can take advantage of that.”
Being the team’s talisman and having scored nine goals in 15 SPL games this season, Morelos being identified as a potential weak link may come as a surprise to some.
However, the Colombian’s disciplinary record suggests there is some substance behind Bachmann’s words.
Morelos has already been shown a red card more than once this term with Rangers’ discipline as a whole having been extremely poor.
As for Morelos, specifically, though, as alluded to by Bachmann, the 22-year-old is so important to his team and really cannot afford to keep picking up suspensions if Rangers are to win the SPL or go on a good run in the Europa League.
