Battle: James Forrest vs Ryan Kent

Celtic and Rangers are currently the two top goalscorers in the Scottish Premiership this season.

The Bhoys have amassed 27 goals, while their rivals in blue have 25. These tallies are down to some lethal attackers both clubs have at their disposal, none more so than James Forrest at Celtic Park and Ryan Kent at Ibrox.

Both will be pivotal in each club’s success this season, so let’s compare these two…

James Forrest

Forrest has been part of the Celtic setup from a very young age and developed through the academy. He made his debut for The Hoops in 2010 as an 18-year-old and has since then progressed into a star player.

However, he has not had it easy at Celtic Park, and has experienced a few injury-ravaged seasons that limited his playing time. But he remained largely injury-free the two seasons prior to this one, and has featured a lot this season.

When fully fit, Forrest can show what a talent he is and can showcase his electric pace and dribbling. Furthermore, this season he is on course for his best goalscoring season so far, only two behind last season’s record with eight with so much more of the season to come.

Forrest is able now to show what a supreme footballer he is, and is getting the plaudits he deserves.

Ryan Kent

Kent signed for Rangers on-loan from Liverpool in the summer. It was a signing brokered by new manager and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

Since the 21-year-0ld’s arrival, he has quickly been able to establish himself as one of the first names on the team-sheet.

His versatility has made him a real asset to the team, and has garnered the adoration from Gerrard and fans alike. So much so, that supporters are calling for him to sign at Ibrox permanently, something that he is open to doing.

He may only be with the club for a season, but he is certainly making the most of it.

TT Verdict:

Obviously, this is a slightly different battle to usual, as Forrest has always been at the club, and Kent is only on loan. So it is easier to compare which one will have the greater impact at the club this season.

Kent’s impact will be significant because it was slightly unexpected; he came out of nowhere at the beginning of the season and has become a key figure.

However, while Forrest was already an established player at Celtic, he appears to be going from strength to strength this season, and that is why he just wins this battle.
