Premiership giants Celtic have been linked with a move for Queens Park Rangers star Bright Osayi-Samuel.
Celtic eyeing immediate January transfer
The Daily Mail (via the Daily Record) have recently reported that Celtic boss Neil Lennon is keen to strike an immediate deal for Osayi-Samuel in the upcoming January transfer window, even though the winger’s contract at QPR runs out in the summer of 2021 and he will be able to hold talks with clubs about joining them on a free transfer at the end of the campaign.
Would Osayi-Samuel be a great signing for Celtic?
The former Blackpool man has been described as a ‘top January transfer target’ for the Hoops and the likes of Rangers, Crystal Palace and Club Brugge are also keeping an eye on the 22-year-old.
Fixes Celtic’s issue in wide areas
Osayi-Samuel has contributed to five goals in 16 Championship appearances for QPR this season. A right-winger by trade, he can also ply his trade on the left wing. QPR boss Mark Warburton has already admitted that the club’s attempts to hand Osayi-Samuel a new deal have hit a stalemate.
Celtic currently have just one out-and-out right-winger in their side in James Forrest. They have two out-and-out options for the left-wing in Mohamed Elyounoussi and Mikey Johnston. The 21-year-old Scotsman though, is yet to return to action for the club’s first-team following an injury.
So Osayi-Samuel will clearly add depth to the club’s options in the wide positions and signing him will make a lot of sense for the Bhoys.
