Celtic considering surprise swoop for Emilio Izaguirre

Celtic are poised to make a shock signing this summer as they look to add options to their squad.

According to a report by the Daily Record, the Bhoys are considering to bring Emilio Izaguirre back to Celtic Park a year after he left Scotland.

The Honduras international decided to quit the Hoops last summer for a move to the Middle East, however, he is now on the market as he cut his spell with Al-Fayha in Saudi Arabia short.

Celtic are now thinking about welcoming him back to the club as they see the 32-year-old as ideal cover for Kieran Tierney.

Having spent seven years at Parkhead, Izaguirre became one of the club’s most successful players as he won 10 major trophies and a Player of the Year Award during his time with the outfit.

The Verdict:

Izaguirre became a fan favourite at Celtic during his seven years with the club and he could prove to be smart business this summer.

The Honduran has a huge amount of experience of playing in the Scottish Premiership and could be someone that Tierney could turn to for advice about his development.

The 32-year-old would also be a capable back-up for the young Scotland international and Brendan Rodgers will be delighted to have the cover and depth in his squad for that position.
