Celtic supporters have been pretty happy in the Transfer Tavern in recent times after seeing their side bounce back from their 4-0 mauling at the hands of Hearts with three wins and a draw from their succeeding four Scottish Premiership matches.
Brendan Rodgers’ men saw their outstanding 69-match unbeaten run come to a shuddering halt last month with an emphatic defeat at Tynecastle, yet the Bhoys have since responded admirably to maintain a healthy lead at the summit of the division. Victories over Partick Thistle, Aberdeen, and Dundee, all of which without conceding a goal, have put the Scottish giants back on track, and they finished a hugely successful 2017 with a goalless draw at home to Old Firm rivals Rangers, a result which kept them 11 points clear of their bitter rivals heading into the second half of the season.
Thus, there have been many satisfied Celtic fans in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are likely to be intrigued by a recent report from The Daily Express, which suggests that midfielder Liam Henderson could be on his way out of the club this month.
The 21-year-old came up through the ranks at Parkhead to make his senior debut for the club back in December 2013, from which he has added a further 37 appearances for the Bhoys in the last few years.
However, only one of those has come this term and that lasted just 23 minutes back in October against Dundee, and that has thus thrown his future at Celtic Park into doubt ahead of the current January window.
And reports suggest that Henderson could be on his way out of the club this month as Swedish outfit Ostersunds, who face Arsenal in the Europa League in February, are interested in landing him as he seeks the first team football needed to aid his development.
Thus, a January departure could be in the offing for the Celtic outcast.
Landlord’s verdict: Liam Henderson has managed just 23 minutes of league action for Celtic so far this season, and his exclusion from their last 13 matchday squads has further plunged his future at Parkhead into doubt.
And it appears that a January departure could be in the offing for the 21-year-old as reports suggest that Ostersunds, known to British football fans as the side who will face Arsenal in the last 32 of the Europa League, are interested in giving him the chance to resurrect his flailing career.
And with his future prospects getting bleaker by the day at Celtic, it’s a move which could be in the best interests of all parties involved.
