Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is confident that Celtic have a chance to complete a deal for left-back Diego Laxalt on a permanent basis.
The 27-year-old is currently spending the season on loan from Serie A giants AC Milan, starting eight Scottish Premiership games, scoring one goal and averaging a match rating of 6.86 (Whoscored). Lennon is a huge fan of his and has not been shy of offering glowing praise to the Uruguayan wide man.
Via Il Milanista, a cut-price deal is on the table for the Bhoys to take Laxalt permanently, with a price tag of £7.2m placed on his head by Rossoneri.
Speaking to Give Me Sport, Romano is upbeat that the green half of Glasgow can get the deal done.
“He’s a good player,” he said. “There are chances because AC Milan don’t want him back. He’s not part of the project. So who’s going to pay?
“For AC Milan, it’s okay, because they have Theo Hernández at left-back, so they are not looking to bring back Diego Laxalt.
“So yes, Celtic have options, but there are also other clubs interested. So it won’t be so easy, but they are obviously in the race.”
Transfer Tavern Verdict
It will be a huge coup for Celtic if they can land Laxalt. Supporters, like Lennon, have been pleased with what they have seen from him so far.
With the options that Milan have, it should be an easy decision on their behalf. But the question is whether the Hoops are willing to pay their asking price for the player.
