Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to their Scottish Cup final against Motherwell at the weekend.
Brendan Rodgers guided the Hoops to their seventh consecutive Scottish Premiership title earlier in the month after crushing rivals Rangers 5-0. No one can match Celtic in the league, but they struggled on the European stage. After exiting the Champions League at the group stage, they were knocked out by Zenit St. Petersburg in the Europa League.
New signings are a must if Rodgers are to compete in Europe, starting with a new number one. Potentially on his way out of Arsenal is Premier League legend – Petr Cech. The 35-year-old is one of the best keepers to ever grace to the division but could be set to leave if Arsenal’s reported interest in Bernd Leno is genuine. Cech is surely unlikely to accept a backup role meaning a switch to Scotland could be on the cards. He is valued at £5.4m by Transfermarkt.
The former Czech Republic international has made 34 appearances for the Gunners this season, keeping 11 clean sheets and became the first ever keeper to keep 200 Premier League clean sheets. Cech has years of Premier League and European experience which would prove invaluable to Rodgers next year.
If the Hoops are to challenge in Europe next year, Cech could be the perfect addition…
