Celtic need this £7.2m-rated Argentina international to shore up their back line

Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager to see who Brendan Rodgers will bring to the club this summer ahead of a gruelling campaign in the Scottish Premiership.

The Hoops completed the domestic treble fantastically last season and will be hoping for further success next year. They struggled on the European stage, being knocked out of both the Champions League and Europa League. Celtic will travel to Armenia next week to face Alashkert looking to secure a place in the group stages for the third consecutive season.

Strengthening the defence will be a priority for Rodgers in the summer window as he looks to continue their dominance of Scotland. The Northern Irishman would be wise to return to his former stomping ground, Swansea, to poach one of their best players. Following their relegation from the Premier League, they are set to sell their star players.

Therefore, Celtic should attempt to bring Federico Fernandez to Celtic Park. Valued at £7.2m by Transfermarkt, Swansea are resigned to losing their star defender in order to cut costs. Reports suggest the former Napoli defender will be available for just £6m making him the ideal signing for Celtic.

Fernandez made 30 appearances in the Premier League last season and has been capped 32 times by Argentina and his experience will prove vital to Rodgers next season.
