Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard “would gladly” leave Parkhead to join AC Milan, according to reports.
The 22-year-old is reportedly wanted by many elite clubs after some excellent performances for Neil Lennon’s side over the past few seasons.
In his 149 appearances for Celtic, Edouard has scored 71 goals and provided 35 assists and has been hugely influential in helping the Hoops capture their last three Scottish Premiership crowns (TransferMarkt).
According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Sport Witness), the French centre forward “would gladly” take up the opportunity to play for Rossoneri if a deal could be reached in January.
The report added that Edouard, who was described as “excellent” by Callum McGregor, can fill the boots that will eventually be left by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, considering his physical attributes.
Transfer Tavern Verdict
If true, this news may come as a shock to many Celtic supporters. While the speculation about the Frenchman’s future has never really gone away, the fact that Edouard has stuck around will have given them hope that he would be there for the long run.
However, this update about him being happy to leave has almost come out of the blue. While Lennon’s team are playing catchup this season, it comes across that Edouard wants to jump ship at the first sign of difficulty.
Depending on how Celtic plan to address their business in January, time will tell whether Edouard will still be a Bhoys player when the window closes.
