Celtic prepared to offer duo for Scott McKenna

Celtic could be prepared to offer two of their players to land one of their transfer targets this summer.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, the Bhoys are planning on offering Ryan Christie and Jonny Hayes to try and land Aberdeen’s Scott McKenna.

It is believed that the Dons have already kicked an opening offer from the Hoops into touch and have told the Scottish Premiership champions that they will need to smash the transfer record in Scotland to have any hope of landing him, via The Times.

However, Brendan Rodgers’ side are desperate to land defensive reinforcements this summer and have identified McKenna as the man they see ideal to strengthen their backline.

The club have already re-signed Emilio Izaguirre as cover on the left-hand side of defence but there is concern that the middle of the back four is lacking in depth, which could be worsened if Dedryck Boyata moves on before the end of the transfer window.

The Verdict:

Celtic offering two former Aberdeen players could tempt the Pittodrie outfit into making a deal with them for McKenna.

Christie has spent the last 18 months on loan with the Dons, whilst Hayes was a hero for the club before he joined the Hoops in 2017, however, both have struggled to make a real impact for Rodgers’ side.

However, Aberdeen are expected to stand firm for their £1.33million-rated enforcer (via Transfermarkt), which could result in Celtic missing out on another target this summer.
