Celtic prepared to wait for John McGinn after latest bid rejected

Celtic will be keen to continue their domination of Scottish football this summer, despite Old Firm rivals Rangers and the transfer business they have conducted this summer.

Brendan Rodgers campaign got off to a winning start with a 3-0 victory against Alashkert in their opening Champions League qualifier and he will be keen to keep those performances going throughout the year as well.

The Hoops have tried to bring a couple of players to Celtic Park this summer, however, they have struggled to get a deal over the line, with one man looking unlikely to join the Bhoys in the near future.

According to a report in the Daily Record, Celtic had a second bid rejected from Hibernian for star midfielder John McGinn and could now be prepared to wait until January to make him an offer.

The Bhoys will be allowed to open discussions with the player about a pre-contract deal and it is believed the 23-year-old would be keen on a switch to his boyhood heroes.

The Verdict:

Celtic could be about to conduct some of the smartest transfer business the club has done for some time.

Rather than having to spend more on a player than they feel he is worth, they could look to wait a few months and bring him on a free transfer next summer, knowing that there is no concrete interest in the player currently.

Although that could bring some risk with it, Rodgers’ side could be in for some high reward with the Scotland international one of the brightest prospects in the league.
