Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern will be delighted with the news that the club has managed to convince one of their stars to remain at Parkhead for a number of years.
The club confirmed on their official website that Tom Rogic has signed a new five-year deal to keep him with the Bhoys until 2023. The locals are pleased with the deal as the 25-year-old has consistently been linked with a move away from the club.
The Australia international has been an influential figure in Brendan Rodgers’ side that is chasing a back-to-back Treble and his performances have earned him a place in the national team for this summer’s World Cup.
Rogic has quickly become a fan favourite at Celtic Park and will have delighted the punters in the bar that he has committed his future to the club. It had been in doubt for some time at one stage, with Premier League sides rumoured to be interested in the midfielder, however, he revealed that he is happy in Glasgow.
Having made his debut in 2013, it was not until the 15/16 season where he made himself a first-team regular and contributed significantly, with 10 goals and seven assists, before scoring the winning goal in the dying moments of last season’s Scottish Cup final to give them the Treble-winning invincibles year.
