Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern have been singing non-stop following their 5-0 win over Rangers which secured their seventh consecutive Scottish Premiership title.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have cruised to another title and have Scottish Cup final against Motherwell just around the corner. Rodgers will come head-to-head with former player Steven Gerrard who has finally been announced as the new Rangers manager.
Still, despite all of their domestic success, the Hoops struggled in Europe after being given a tough Champions League group.
Reinforcements are needed if the Hoops are to be successful on the European stage, Rodgers must recruit players with experience of playing in Europe. The Northern Irishman should pay close attention to the latest developments coming out of Manchester City to try and strengthen his hand for continental combat.
Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Yaya Toure will leave the club at the end of the season following eight years with the Citizens. The Ivorian has certainly enjoyed plenty of success in Manchester, adding three Premier League trophies to his collection.
Valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt, the 34-year-old is a Champions League winner with Barcelona and would give Rodgers some valuable experience in the centre of the park. The Hoops would offer Toure the chance to continue playing in Europe, potentially giving them the edge over Chinese and American clubs looking to land his signature.
With his brother Kolo on the coaching staff in Glasgow, it would be a wonderful move all-around.
Celtic fans, would Celtic be able to pull off this signing? Let us know!
