Celtic should absolutely look to rescue £10.8m-rated man from Southampton nightmare

Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting to see plenty of new faces arrive at Celtic Park as they look to complete another domestic treble next year.

Brendan Rodgers lifted the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup last season with no-one remotely challenging their dominance. The Hoops struggled on the European stage, being knocked out of both the Champions League and Europa League. They face an early start in the competition this year, facing Armenian side Alashkert in a week.

Rodgers has completed just one transfer deal this summer, signing forward Odsonne Eduoard on a permanent basis from Paris St Germain for £9m. The Northern Irishman allowed Stuart Armstrong to leave for Southampton earlier in the week, fetching a fee of £7m. Our punters are hoping the funds will be pumped back into the squad.

One man he could look to sign this summer is Southampton winger – Sofiane Boufal. Valued at £10.8m by Transfermarkt, the Moroccan has failed to impress since making from Lille two years ago. The forward finds himself on the way out of St. Marys after being left out of Southampton’s pre-season tour of China.

He made 26 appearances in the Premier League last season, starting just 11 games, scoring two and assisting two. Known for his blistering pace and magnificent tricks, many Saints fans feel Boufal deserves another chance to impress. If he is axed, Celtic should pounce.

Still only 24-years-old, a change of scenery could be just what he needs to kickstart his career. He would be a defender’s nightmare and add another dimension to the Hoops attack.

Celtic fans, thoughts?
