Celtic romped the Scottish Premier League title last season and remained unbeaten under Brendan Rodgers to complete a stunning season North of the border.
The Bhoys though will now be preparing to Champions League qualification, as well looking to extend their unbeaten run as long as possible, and the Celtic fans here in the Tavern are hoping the club can bring some new players in to compliment the squad.
Our landlord has been racking his brains over a few pints with the Celtic fans this week, and one player he thinks could do a job in Scotland and offer Celtic something different, is current Derby and Scotland striker, Chris Martin.
Valued at £3.83m by Transfermarkt, the big centre forward looks tailor made for the Scottish league, and would no doubt bang in the goals.
Consistent as a goalscorer in the Championship for Derby, Martin had an up and down campaign last season with Fulham, with a few arguments coming to the fore between the two clubs over the course of the season.
However, a move to Celtic could be just the tonic for Martin, and he would complement the pace and natural ability of Moussa Dembele perfectly.
The Rams won’t want to lose Martin, but if Celtic do come knocking and are willing to pay the money, the striker could find a move North too hard to turn down as he enters the latter years of his career.
