Celtic fans in the Tavern are preparing for a party as the Hoops can secure another Scottish Premiership trophy on Sunday with a victory over arch-rivals Rangers at Celtic Park
No one other than Celtic has been crowned champions of Scotland since 2011, and Brendan Rodgers’ men look set to lift their 49th league title which will be guaranteed with just one more win. Still, club legend, Stilian Petrov, believes the Hoops’ dominance could lead to star striker Moussa Dembele angling for a move away.
The Frenchman has scored eight goals in 23 appearances and has continuously been linked with a move to the Premier League since leaving Fulham for Celtic in 2016.
Regardless of whether Dembele leaves the club, Rodgers could target a player he is already familiar with in Tammy Abraham.
The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Swansea from Chelsea – where Rodgers previously worked as a youth coach. Abraham has netted five goals and registered two assists during his loan spell with the Swans and is valued at £9m by Transfermarkt.
Abraham has tonnes of potential and all the right attributes to be a great striker in Scotland. It’s unlikely he will break into the Chelsea first-team given the abundance of talent at Antonio Conte’s disposal so he might be farmed out on loan again.
Rodgers knows how to get the best out of young players and bringing Abraham to Celtic Park could turn out to be a great piece of business for the Bhoys.
