Celtic will be desperate to gain some momentum after falling short in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.
The Hoops will have to settle for Europa League football after midweek’s disappointment, with improvements in the Scottish Premiership also required. And, to make matters worse, it looks as if the Scottish club have lost out on a reported target, as according to the Scottish Sun, Jason Denayer has arrived in France ahead of his move to Lyon.
Celtic target Jason Denayer has arrived in Lyon ahead of a move to the French giants.
Sadly, the 23-year-old snubbed interest from Celtic to agree a deal with Lyon.
“Our new player is a Belgium international who has won the league with Galatasaray.
“He has plenty of references. Yes, it could well be Jason Denayer.”
Indeed, this is a huge blow for Celtic as they are in desperate need of a central defender as Dedryck Boyata’s future continues to be surrounded with doubt. And, having taken their recent negative results into consideration, it’s about time Brendan Rodgers invested in a central defender.
The Belgian impressed during his time at Parkhead and would have cured Celtic’s defensive issues if he rejoined them this summer. But, with him edging closer to a move to French giants Lyon, it just adds insult to injury after the week that the Hoops have had.
Indeed, the central defender definitely showed his quality during his time at Celtic and deserves a shot in a competitive French division, so a move to Lyon can’t be argued with.
