Celtic are romping away with the Scottish Premier League title once again, with Brendan Rodgers’ men failing to be tested in their quest to maintain their stranglehold on football north of the border.
Hoops fans here in The Transfer Tavern are always a welcome sight, with booming Scottish voices adding a new layer to the atmosphere of our beloved boozer. Our landlord always enjoy a chinwag with Celtic fans, and during a catch up, he revealed breaking news that The Daily Mail had reported that the club are in no rush to tie up a permanent £7 million record-deal for on-loan PSG striker, Odsonne Edouard. The player has bagged four times this season and added a further assist, and despite the massive potential of the 19-year-old, the club’s hierarchy are not prioritising a permanent switch for the player.
‘I will just assess it at the end of the season,’ said Rodgers. ‘I have been really impressed by him and he is getting better and better each week.
‘The boy has big talent and is a real worker as well. He works very hard for the team and he’s the type of performer I like.
‘His English is getting better through lessons and he’s still very young at 19 – so he has a lot of potential there.
‘I don’t have any qualms if I have to put him into a game to play.
The teenager is halfway through a season-long loan deal from the French giants, but Rodgers is keen to explore his options before stumping up the required fee.
Landlord’s Verdict: Four goals in thirteen appearances is a slow, but steady start in Scotland for the French youngster, and Rodgers is right in his assessment of the player’s future.
Edouard is undoubtedly a talented player, but with the future of forwards Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele uncertain, Rodgers is biding his time and waiting to see how the situation unfolds. The player certainly has a future at Celtic Park should Rodgers choose to add him to the mix, and could become a top talent under the tutelage of the former Liverpool boss.
