Celtic have really been playing badly this season, especially compared to their usual high standards and if they don’t pick up some form quickly, silverware could be a lot easier to come by.
All manager Brendan Rodgers will know is how to win with Celtic, he hasn’t yet experienced failure and doesn’t plan to either this season.
Despite a poor start to the season, Celtic do have the squad depth and quality to make vast improvements quickly. Their striking options will be a slight concern though considering that they sold Moussa Dembele over the summer and to make amends they need a striker who will be a reliable goal source and that could be Bournemouth’s Jermain Defoe.
Defoe, (who is valued at £2.2 million on Transfermarkt) may be getting on a bit in terms of age for a footballer but the goalscoring ability will never leave him, nor his sharpness and those could be vital ingredients to enjoying a successful move to Celtic, should that ever become a possibility.
The 35-year-old has been scoring goals for fun throughout his career and Celtic could also reap the benefits of his brilliance up-front.
With the Englishman getting limited time on the pitch, only really getting a proper chance in the cup competitions, Celtic could provide him with the game-time, the amazing fans and the platform to show he very much still has it.
Just two seasons ago he hit 15 goals in the Premier League but with all the same attributes now as well, what’s to say he can’t get in amongst the goals again but with Celtic this time.
