Celtic will be looking to beat Old Firm rivals Rangers at the weekend and be crowned Scottish Premiership champions for the eighth time in a row and fans in the Transfer Tavern will want to ensure they can do it in front of their arch-nemesis.
The Bhoys are also on course for a back-to-back domestic treble which has led to many praising the job Brendan Rodgers has conducted since his arrival at Celtic Park. His efforts have led to a number of clubs being linked with him recently, with Arsenal the latest following Arsene Wenger’s decision to leave at the end of the season.
It has been made public knowledge that Celtic will not stand in the Northern Irishman’s way if he wanted to hold talks about a possible move, however, a number of his players are hoping he does not leave the Hoops anytime soon.
Sky Sports are reporting that James Forrest has insisted that he and his teammates want Rodgers’ to stay after having a significant impact on his own development and career.
“The manager has been different class for me and for a lot of the other boys as well,” he told Sky Sports News.
“I think we’ve done really well since he came in winning trophies, winning cups and we want to keep progressing and hopefully we can keep doing that.
“He’s done a great job himself, he’s getting linked to big clubs and that’s only a good thing for Celtic and him personally.
“Obviously the players and everyone associated with the club wants him to stay and we hope that happens.”
The Celtic fans in the Tavern will be quick to echo the same thoughts as Forrest about Rodgers and will be hoping he can commit his future to the club further and not be tempted about trying his luck in the Premier League once again. Keeping him for years to come may be a tad unrealistic, though perhaps one last crack at Europe should be attempted.
