Celtic edge closer to £1.5m playmaker deal as target jets in for Barcelona clash

As you can well imagine, the Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern have been calming their nerves ahead of tonight’s seismic Celtic Park clash with Barcelona, with their Champions League hopes hanging in the balance.

Parkhead has played host to some glorious European nights over the years and the Bhoys propping up the bar are hoping tonight plays out much the same way as THAT night under Neil Lennon back in 2012.

Still, reports from the Daily Mail have at least allowed the Hoops in today to take just one eye off tonight’s match and focus on something else.

They claim the SPFL champions are interested in USA international Darlington Nagbe, currently of Portland Timbers.

The MLS playmaker is understood to have flown to Glasgow to watch the club in Champions League action against Barcelona tonight and was reportedly given a tour of the stadium recently.

It’s said the player is valued at around £1.5m, though he did recently drop out of Jurgen Klinsmann’s American side, in the buildup to the German’s sacking.

Crystal Palace’s Jordan Mutch is also believed to be of interested, though the 26-year-old MLS star is reported to be a much cheaper alternative to Brendan Rodgers.

Seen much of Nagbe? Would he be a good signing? Let us know below…
