Celtic supporters have been making a lot of noise in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side take a giant step towards defending their Scottish Premiership crown with a 3-2 victory in the Old Firm derby on Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers’ men went into their trip to Ibrox just six points clear of Rangers at the summit of the division, and knowing that anything less than victory on Sunday would keep the Gers in with a shot of an unlikely title success. Yet the Bhoys all but banished any Rangers hope as Odsonne Edouard’s second half effort clinched all three points for Rodgers’ side, who twice came from behind in the first half through Tom Rogic and Moussa Dembele as goals from Josh Windass and Daniel Candeias twice gave Graeme Murty’s Light Blues the advantage.

Consequently, there have been many delighted Celtic fans in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are hoping their team can continue their march towards a seventh successive Scottish Premiership crown when they travel to Motherwell on Sunday.

In the meantime though, there has been plenty for our resident Bhoys supporters to get their teeth into, not least recent reports suggesting that manager Rodgers is on the radar of Premier League side Southampton following their decision to sack Mauricio Pellegrino on Monday.

The Spaniard only took over at St Mary’s back in the summer but won just five of his 30 league matches in charge of the Saints, with the final straw coming on Saturday as his team were comfortably beaten 3-0 by fellow relegation candidates Newcastle United.

And reports suggest that Rodgers is one man the club are considering to replace the former Alaves chief, with many Celtic supporters having taken to Twitter to express their views on the news.

And it’s fair to say that they are very confident that the 45-year-old will remain at Celtic…

Celtic fans… what do you think? Let us know!
