With the Champions League qualifiers just around the corner, the Celtic fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern have been in an excitable mood of late.
Following such a wonderful first campaign under the stewardship of Brendan Rodgers, the Bhoys in the bar are eager to see the new season kick off as soon as possible. Indeed, their excitement has only been added to following reports from the Scottish Sun.
They claim the Hoops are set to pip a number of Premier League clubs to the potential signing of Ipswich Town starlet Kundai Benyu, in a huge boost to all involved at Parkhead. The likes of Tottenham, West Ham United and Aston Villa are understood to have cast keen eyes over the 19-year-old, though a move to Glasgow looks to be on the cards.
The midfielder is out of contract at Portman Road next summer and, while the Tractor Boys were reportedly keen on extending his deal, have conceded defeat over the player’s future.
Celtic will be forced to pay a tribunal fee, though that will be far lower than any English side as Benyu has crossed the border, in a similar deal to the one that saw Moussa Dembele join last term.
After the Frenchman’s success in green and white, the resident Hoops are eager to see the Ipswich man arrive.
