Former Celtic striker Craig Beattie has questioned whether or not the Bhoys have “the bottle” to see a close title race out because they have had everything their own way for eight years.
Speaking on Sky Sports (via The Daily Record) about who will best cope with the pressure, Beattie said: “It’s impossible to say.
Who has more potential, Odsonne Edouard or Moussa Dembele?
“Celtic have been across the distance and I discussed this yesterday when a very well known journalist (who) said it would be interesting to see if Rangers had the bottle with three or four games to go. If they are in contention, will they have the bottle to stand up to potentially winning the league.
“But I flipped the question and said ‘well, how do we know Celtic have the bottle’ because with three or games left to go, nobody has really been challenging them lately”.
“So I get what he’s saying from a Rangers perspective but from a Celtic perspective they’ve been running away winners for however many years now, so how will Celtic cope when the pressure is on with three games to go?”
Celtic have seen off every “challenge” over the last eight seasons and indeed have won nine consecutive trophies, it’s not just a case of them having the bottle but of them being relentless in their dominance of Scottish football.
It’s safe to say that these Celtic fans have taken Beattie’s comments with more than a pinch of salt.
