The Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern have been ripping into former Rangers midfielder, Joey Barton, for comments he made about yesterday’s Old Firm clash, comparing the Scottish Premiership to Sunday football whilst talking to Alan Brazil on TalkSPORT’s breakfast show (via the Scottish Sun).
Joey Barton had a torrid time in Glasgow as he couldn’t even manage half a season in the SPL, making just eight appearances for Rangers, including one in a 5-1 thumping at the hands of Celtic. The Liverpool-born midfielder was involved in a well-documented bust-up with Rangers manager at the time, Mark Warburton, and was eventually released by the club in November, just five months after signing for the Bluenoses.
Since leaving Glasgow, Barton resigned with former club, Burnley, before being released again after being given a footballing ban that will see him unable to play again until the end of the current season. Since receiving the ban, the former Marseille and Manchester City man has found himself in the headlines a number of times for his outlandish opinions, with his most reason claim that he didn’t even know the Old Firm game at Ibrox was on, comparing the Scottish Premier League to Sunday league football.

So Joey, you are actually saying you were found to be out your depth in a Sunday league fixture then eh? Who’d a thunk it.

Who cares what Barton the betting cheat thinks? He’s an irrelevance.
