Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern will be getting ready for their Scottish Cup semi-final clash with Rangers at the weekend, however, news is starting to circulate about a potential transfer target this summer.
According to reports in Italy, Tutto Mercato Web are claiming the Bhoys are interested in signing Abel Hernandez from Hull City. The Uruguayan striker’s contract with the Championship side expires at the end of the season and it is believed he will not renew it with the club.
Brendan Rodgers’ side will be keen to add some experienced heads at the top of the field, especially since they could be set to lose one of their young rising stars. Moussa Dembele has been attracting interest from a number of European clubs and the Hoops are resigned to the fact he could be sold.
Hernandez could be considered a strange purchase for the Scottish side, however, he has proven to score goals for Hull since arriving, including seven from seven starts during an injury-hit campaign.
As you can imagine, our punters clad in green and white would be happy to see Hernandez arrive in Paradise, hoping he could get back to his best after a spate of injuries.
The Celtic fans in the Tavern may see this as a strange deal, however, it could work out to their advantage. Hernandez has shown he can still find the back of the net given the chance, and with the possibility of Dembele being sold, the locals will feel that a free deal is not one to pass up.
