With the Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern able to take stock of the season so far during this international break, the punters propping up the bar are discussing potential targets.
Though it’s been a perfect season domestically for the Hoops, the Bhoys in our bar always think there is room for improvement and the chance of beating bitter rivals Rangers to anything is enough to seriously excite them. Having said that, reports from the Scotsman have proven rather interesting.
According to them, Brendan Rodgers’ men are keen on a move for Club Brugge midfielder Riley McGree and are reportedly ready to battle the Gers to land him. The Australian youngster, who plays in midfield, has struggled to adapt to life in Belgium since leaving Australia and is thought to be a target across Glasgow.
Brugge are believed to be ready to allow him an exit in either January or next summer, despite only joining earlier this year, with eyes in Scotland understood to be firmly fixed on him. One of the most exciting talents in Australian football, it looks like an Old Firm transfer battle.
If Celtic can land him, it’d be quite the coup. We’ve seen the success of Aaron Mooy in the Premier League and, surely, if both Glasgow clubs go in for McGree, the Hoops will ultimately win.
Celtic’s transfer policy since Rodgers arrived has been an exciting one, so landing a talented youngster would be good news.
